Meet the Master (well, Ph.D.!) Baker

Stacey Garrepy

Stacey fell in love with artisanal German bread during her many trips to Germany (aka her home away from home). She discovered bread-baking during the time many of us did – during the dark days of COVID quarantine in March 2020. She discovered that working with bread was not only a way to feed her family and occupy her time, but that it was therapeutic and anxiety-reducing for an academic who needed frequent “brain breaks” from writing. At her home in central North Carolina, Stacey continues to bake German breads for her husband, Seth with the assistance of her 212-gram sous-chef White Cap Pionus parrot, Ictus.
